Tribute
From GenieWiki
A tribute is a payment from one party to another, usually in the form of resources. A typical tribute involves one player paying a sum of resources to another player or players. The payment can be made for a variety of reasons - the giver may simply pay the resources as a gift (e.g. they have a lot to spare or wish to form an alliance), under duress (e.g. they are threatened with destruction) or as emergency aid for an ally. The tribute may even be paid to an enemy as an insult to their strength. Tributes are common in all game types, and typically occur in mid to late game. A market is essential as tributes require a market as a medium for the exchange to take place. Tributes may be used between allies in a strategical multiplayer alliance, or may be a feature of a custom scenario. The transaction often incurs a cost, charged as a percentage of each resource tributed.
