This page is for listing (and detailing, if possible) all known bugs in Age of Kings.

Too many units

If too many objects have been placed on the map, the game will eventually crash to the desktop directly. A very hard lag included with rapid mouse-movement may also cause a crash. Actually, when the engine must handle to much information at once, the game will crash. For example; If we use the "change ownership" trigger on about 100 buildings and objects at the same time, the game will crash instantly at the startup.

Map Copying

The most common and popular design-trick is the map copying. However, there is actually a bug that if not using carefully it may crash the game. If we trying to copy a tile of forest over another tile with fish, the game is sure for crashing.

Gazelle Bug

One of the first bugs discovered. It was first seen in the campaign Vindlandsaga from the game. Therefore, the bug was a editing mistake by ES.

In the level, Ornlu the wolf is suppose to attack your outpost and are triggered to do so. However, the designers forgot to choice "Ornlu the wolf" in the list, just <None>.

When a deer comes within the area where the trigger is suppose to kick off, then not only Ornlu will going off for the outpost. In fact, the deer will also attack it. Once the deer is attacking, its graphic turns into a gazelle from Age of Empires. The deer also do ca. 1 damage per minute.
